The Grove Academy is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school coming to the Mabelvale and Otter Creek corridor of southwest Little Rock in August 2027. We are anchored in this community and built for its children, offering a challenging and nurturing K–5 education where every student is known, challenged, and prepared to thrive. Through a proven academic model grounded in the science of reading, hands-on inquiry, and project-based learning, our students will Explore. Learn. Flourish. The Grove Academy believes that every child in Little Rock is worthy of a high-quality education, and we are committed to making that belief a reality, right here, close to home.
Growing up as a third-generation educator in a community where teachers and leaders lived alongside the families they served deeply shaped Dr. Terri Guy’s identity as both a person and a leader. From an early age, she witnessed schools functioning as the heartbeat of the neighborhood, places where educators were not only instructors, but also neighbors, mentors, and advocates. This model of presence and commitment anchored her belief that leadership is centered in service, relationships, and accountability. It continues to guide her approach today as she cultivates authentic connections and leads with purpose to create lasting impact for children and families.
Her experience also instilled in her the belief that serving students, families, and communities is an act of purpose. It is about knowing the names, stories, and potential of every child and building a school environment that reflects and responds to the unique strengths and needs of the community. That upbringing taught her to lead with purpose and to always prioritize authentic connections within the community as the foundation for lasting impact.
With 22 years of experience, Dr. Guy has held diverse roles across public education, including classroom teacher, school leader, reading specialist, alternative certification advisor, and higher education teacher residency program. Each role has sharpened her conviction that excellent schools are built on high-quality instruction, intentional culture, and people who are deeply invested in the communities they serve.
